Meet The Artist: Danisha Edwards

Founder of Afrocoastal Art & Design (A.C.AR.I.), Danisha Edwards

Through Afrocoastal Art & Design, I channel ancestral memory, sacred materials, and visions that rise through dreams. My work exists as living artifacts—objects that hold presence, lineage, and quiet power.

Each piece is created with intention and released in limited availability for collectors and curated spaces.

This is not decorative work. This is storytelling through fine art.

Artist Statement

For generations, art has been a way to carry memory, pass down history, and give form to what cannot always be spoken. My work is rooted in that purpose. Through sculpture, mixed media, and wearable objects, I create pieces that connect past and present, memory and material.

I am drawn to materials that hold history — shell, wood, glass, metal, and clay. These elements come from both land and sea, and they guide how each piece takes shape. Many works begin as images or feelings that stay with me until they are built into physical form. I allow the work to reveal itself as I create it.

Each piece becomes a record of what was felt, remembered, and uncovered in the making. The process is both intuitive and deliberate — a conversation between material, memory, and time.
